I will be selling hand-dyed and hand-painted natural fibers for knitting, crocheting, felting, weaving, spinning, etc. I primarily do small-batch dyeing for unique colorways. Additionally, I offer custom hand-dyed yarn colorways or larger amounts of certain colorways if you need more for a larger project. Head over to my Color Gallery to see what dye colors I have available in my collection!
My name is Lauren, and I am the fiber artist behind Yarn in the Woods' custom hand-dyed yarn. My paternal grandmother used to own her fiber and crafts shop in Pennsylvania, and even though she passed on before we could talk about it, I hope that I am channeling her genetic memories through my yarn and knitting, as well as other fiber work

My paternal grandmother used to own her fiber and crafts shop in Pennsylvania, and even though she passed on before we could talk about it, I hope that I am channeling her genetic memories through my yarn and knitting, as well as other fiber works. All products and hand-dyed fibers are created in historic Galena, Illinois, where my mother's side of the family has lived for several generations.
Much of my inspiration for colorways comes from nature as well as fantastical stories, cryptids, and fantasy creatures, hence the name Yarn in the Woods (a yarn being another term for a story/tall tale).
In addition to the traditional animal fiber yarns like wool and alpaca, I will also feature colorways on plant fiber yarns such as cotton and linen. Many indie dyers only (or mostly) dye animal fiber yarns because it tends to be significantly less time-consuming and easier than dyeing plant fiber yarns. Cotton and linen yarns are wonderfu

Cotton and linen yarns are wonderful to use when making warm-weather projects such as tank tops, shorts, swimsuits, swimsuit covers, etc. Custom hand-dyed yarns make for unique, one-of-a-kind projects.
